Public appointment: Members reappointed to NHS National Services Scotland Board

The Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care today announced the reappointments of Gordon Greenhill, Arturo Langa and Lisa Blackett to NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) Board.

Members

Gordon Greenhill

Gordon Greenhill has worked for over 35 years in local government and qualified as an Environmental Health Officer, working in both a city authority and in an island community. He progressed to a senior level holding the posts of Head of Service and Executive Director. Gordon brings this knowledge of working in diverse settings and insight into the needs of differing communities to his member role with NSS.

Arturo Langa

Arturo Langa OBE has had a career that spans 30 years of public service in the NHS and includes working at a senior management executive level, both chairing, and being a member of a variety of leadership committees. He is currently a Consultant Psychiatrist for NHS Lanarkshire. Patient safety is an area he has been passionate about for many years. He is an experienced non-executive board member who has chaired board committees and provided strategic input, business knowledge, and strong governance. Arturo has served on the NSS Board since October 2020 where he fulfils the role of Whistleblowing Champion and is a member of the Audit and Risk, Clinical Governance, and Staff Governance Committees. He also sits on the Court of Queen Margaret University.

Lisa Blackett

Lisa Blackett is a leadership coach and facilitator, with over thirty years’ experience across diverse sectors and countries. Her areas of expertise are individual and organisational wellbeing and resilience, communication, social and interpersonal dynamics, diversity, and leadership development. She works with private, third and public sector organisations, facilitating groups at all levels and engaging meaningfully with all stakeholders. Lisa is the Board Sustainability Champion for NSS. She is also the Independent Chair of the Police Negotiating Board for Scotland and the Scottish Police Consultative Forum.

Reappointment

These reappointments will be for 4 years and will run from 19 October 2024 to 18 October 2028.

These reappointments are regulated by the Ethical Standards Commissioner.

Remuneration

These reappointments are part-time and attract a remuneration of £9,030 for a time commitment of 52 days per year.

Other ministerial appointments

Gordon Greenhill and Arturo Langa do not hold any other public appointments.

Lisa Blackett is a Chair of the Police Negotiating Board for Scotland, for which she receives remuneration of £343 per day, for a time commitment of 2- 3 days per month.

Political activity

All appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process.  However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity within the last five years (if there is any to be declared) to be made public.

Gordon Greenhill, Arturo Langa and Lisa Blackett have had no political activity within the last five years.
