Recruitment plans (23/24) to reduce waiting times for benefit applications:: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

  • What if any are your recruitment plans for 23/24 to help reduce waiting times for benefit applications?
  • With new financial year what areas are you looking for improve initially with recruitment and timescale?
  • With a large number of potential employees on reserve lists do you foresee you will try to recruit before reserve date expires in order to keep down costs of advertising and time interviewing?

Response

Social Security Scotland carried out large scale recruitment campaigns during 2022/23, ensuring we have the right level of resources to deliver services in line with current plans. Our current plans indicate that we are unlikely to carry out additional large scale recruitment campaigns during 2023/24.

Where any recruitment is required during 2023/24 the recruitment method will depend on the specific requirement. Where reserve lists are available and where appropriate for the post or posts to be recruited, these would be utilised prior to a new external campaign.
