Scottish Natural Heritage relocation: written authority - March 2003
Written authority and formal request between the Accountable Officer and Minister for Environment and Rural Development a written authority regarding the relocation of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). A Written Authority is provided to Accountable Officers by Ministers in circumstances when delivering an action is inconsistent with the Accountable Officer’s Duties and a ministerial direction on the specific action is required to continue.
Introduction
Scottish Natural Heritage were subject to a relocation review in line with the Executive’s relocation policy at the time. Their main headquarters functions were housed in two buildings in Edinburgh. The option appraisal showed that a move to outside Edinburgh would not constitute value for money.
Therefore, on 26 January 2003, Accountable Officer John Graham sent Ross Finnie, Minister for Environment and Rural Development a written authority regarding the relocation of Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH). Download a copy of the written authority and a copy of the formal request.
