Residential rehabilitation bed capacity in Scotland, September 2024
This publication presents the findings from a survey of residential rehabilitation facilities in Scotland to provide updated data on residential rehabilitation bed capacity.
Data and Methodology
A survey aimed at obtaining information on residential rehabilitation bed capacity was distributed by email to all known residential rehabilitation facilities in Scotland.
The survey was developed in consultation with Public Health Scotland and included questions on referrals, including statutory funding and geographic distribution, and how the service model aligned with the definition of rehabilitation. The questions relating to the data in this report are provided in Appendix A.
Residential rehabilitation facilities were identified through a scoping exercise informed by previous research and more recent development activity in this field. Recipients were asked to forward the survey to any other residential rehabilitation facilities they were aware of. Follow-up conversations were held with individual facilities to seek clarification on the information provided as part of the data validation and quality assurance processes.
Data collection took place between 30 August and 10 September 2024. Validation and quality assurance concluded end October 2024.
