Introduction

This Mental Health Unscheduled Care (MHUC) resource has been developed for staff working in Unscheduled Care or Out of Hours settings. The resource brings together a range of national resources and tools to support and improve people’s mental health and wellbeing. It provides a directory of additional sources of support that people requiring unplanned support, assessment or treatment can also access. These additional sources of support can complement the support, assessment and treatment people are already receiving, or are waiting to receive.

The resource is divided into five sections, and includes general and tailored sources of support for specific groups or presentations, however; there are rarely hard boundaries and learning may flow across all the sections. It also includes learning and development opportunities that may be relevant to staff working in an unscheduled care or Out of Hours setting.

Section 1

Resources to support and improve people’s mental health and wellbeing.

Section 2

Digital services.

Section 3

Social Prescribing resources available within local, community and GP services, providing additional knowledge and to compliment the resources within section 2.

Section 4

Learning and training opportunities with resources.

Section 5

Appendices and additional local resources.

This resource is not exhaustive, anyone supporting people who require unscheduled care and support are encouraged to make use of local resources and tools available to them too.

This resource will be reviewed and updated as necessary. If you have any questions regarding the document, please email MHWorkforceUnscheduledPrimaryCare@gov.scot.
