Footnotes

1 The Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation is a relative measure of deprivation across 6,976 small areas (called data zones). SIMD looks at the extent to which an area is deprived across seven domains: income, employment, education, health, access to services, crime and housing.

SIMD is the Scottish Government's standard approach to identify areas of multiple deprivation in Scotland. SIMD ranks data zones from most deprived (ranked 1) to least deprived (ranked 6,976). (Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation 2020).

2 Note that the sample over-represents respondents educated to degree level and from higher income households.

3 Where a household has more than one child, a selected child was asked about. Only particular questions are asked generally of all/any children in the household.

4 Note that the ‘swimming pool’ option did not clearly distinguish between outdoor or indoor swimming pools.

5 Question was asked about all children aged 0-11 in parents’ household.

6 Question was asked about all children aged 0-11 in parents’ household.
