Statistics from the 2023 school estates core facts survey
Section 1: Schools built or substantially refurbished
During the 2022-23 year 46 school builds or substantial refurbishment projects were completed. This brings the total number of school builds or substantial refurbishment projects completed since 2007-08 to 1,098. Only builds or refurbishments costing at least half a million pounds for primary and at least one million pounds for secondary and special schools are reported here.
Figure 1: In 2022-23 46 schools were built or refurbished: 38 primary, six secondary and two special schools.

Note 1: Secondary and Total figures for 2021-22 were revised in 2023. One school had been recorded as built/substantially refurbished in 2021-22 when the work was not completed until mid-April 2022 so is now included in the 2022-23 figures.
