School healthy living survey: school meal uptake statistics 2024

Statistics on school meal uptake from the 2024 School Healthy Living Survey

This annual statistical publication provides information on uptake of school meals (free and paid for). The information comes from a survey (the Healthy Living Survey) carried out in February each year of all publicly funded schools in Scotland on uptake of school lunch meals. Statistics on free school meal registrations are no longer published as part of this report; see background notes for further information. This information can be found as part of the Pupil Census supplementary statistics. Data on the provision of Physical Education (PE) is now collected as part of the Establishments Collection and will be published as part of the quarterly release of school contact details.

Information on school meals uptake from 2006 onwards and breakdowns by local authority are available in the supplementary statistics.

The statistics in this bulletin supersede all previously published statistics.
