Contribution of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions to Scotland's carbon footprint

CO2 is the main greenhouse gas in Scotland's carbon footprint. It accounted for 77.3 per cent of Scotland's total carbon footprint in 2017, up from 71.1 per cent in 1998. Between 2016 and 2017, Scotland's carbon dioxide footprint from all sources decreased by 3.1 per cent.
