Scotland's Land Use Strategy Annual Progress Report – 2023/2024

Fifth annual progress report on Scotland's land use strategy, as required under Section 37A of the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009. It covers the period of March 2023 to March 2024.


Examples of actions towards sustainable land use in 2023

  • £2.6 million to support crofters through the Crofting Agricultural Grant Scheme
  • Land Reform Bill introduced to change how land is owned and managed in rural and island communities
  • Awards totalling over £42 million over the lifetime of the project were issued to over 650 farmers and crofters from the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme
  • £5 million made available for nature restoration through the Nature Restoration Fund
  • £5 million allocated for nature networks
  • £6 million over the next two years to extend the Fruit and Vegetable Aid Scheme
  • Rural and Islands Housing Action Plan launched in October 2023
  • Over £1.8 million distributed to 27 nature projects to support scaling up of private investment in natural capital through the Facility for Investment Ready Nature in Scotland
