This consultation and the analysis of the responses to its questions will help inform our decisions on policy direction in response to the Cameron House Hotel recommendations and other aspects of Scottish building standards and fire safety regulation and guidance.
3 Impact assessments and responding to the consultation
3.1 Equality impact assessment
The Scottish Government does not think that the proposals in the consultation will have potentially negative impacts for equality groups. However, we welcome your comments on the impact of the proposals on particular groups of people in respect of their age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion, sex or sexual orientation, being pregnant or on maternity leave and children's rights and wellbeing. Your views on the impact of these proposals will be used to inform the final equality impact assessment that will be prepared in support of any changes required to the building standards legislative framework.

3.3 Islands communities impact assessment (ICIA)
The Islands (Scotland) Act 2018 places a duty on the Scottish Ministers and other relevant authorities, including a number of public authorities, to have regard to island communities in exercising their functions, and for the Scottish Ministers this will also include the development of legislation. This duty is often referred to as ‘island-proofing’. The principle of island-proofing is one of building a broad-based islands awareness into the decision making process of all parts of the public sector.
