Correspondence from the Cabinet Secretary for Social Security and Older People asking SCoSS to consider the Scottish Government’s ‘uprating measures report’, in accordance with section 22 (1)(b) of the Social Security (Scotland) Act 2018.
The Cabinet Secretary for Social Security and Older People wrote to SCoSS on 6 June 2019 to say that SCoSS would have a role in the annual uprating of social security assistance because the uprating applies to assistance made under sections within Part 2 Chapter 2 of the Social Security (Scotland) 2018 Act and this falls within the scrutiny remit of SCoSS.
The Cabinet Secretary wrote to SCoSS again on 2 September 2019 to supply a policy paper and analytical report on the annual uprating of social security assistance.
SCoSS received further correspondence from the Cabinet Secretary on 18 September 2019 with a summary note of Chancellor’s response to the House of Lords’ ‘Measuring Inflation’ report.
SCoSS published its scrutiny report on annual uprating of social security assistance on 4 October 2019.
SCoSS received the Scottish Government’s response to their scrutiny report on 5 November 2019
