Analysis report of our consultation on the management of burial grounds, application for burial, exhumation, private burial and restoration of lairs in Scotland.
The Consultation
The consultation was split into sections (shown below), with specific questions relating to each of these sections:
- Section 1 – Commencement of part 1 of the 2016 Act
- Section 2 – Management of burial grounds
- Section 3 – Burial application and register
- Section 4 – Private burial
- Section 5 – Exhumation
- Section 6 – Restoration of lairs
- Any other comments
The consultation consisted of forty-seven (47) consultation questions. Twenty-eight (28) of these questions had both closed question sections requiring a fixed response selected from options, and free text comment section for further explanation of preceding fixed response choices. Seventeen (17) questions were open questions inviting broader comments on the proposals. Two (2) of the questions required a fixed response only but these were followed by a related open question for comment. There were a further eight (8) questions on the impact assessment following the main consultation questions. The responses will help inform the development of the impact assessments and have not been analysed for this report.
