Short Life Working Group on Economic and Social Opportunities for Gaelic report: SG response
Our response to the recommendations made by the Short Life Working Group on Economic and Social Opportunities for Gaelic.
Population and infrastructure
3.1.1 As a matter of urgency, infrastructure challenges – housing, transport and digital connectivity – which undermine the ‘parity of starting point’ for NSET ambitions are addressed.
The Scottish Government accepts this recommendation.
The Scottish Government has three strategic documents through which it is approaching the issues of housing, transport and digital connectivity identified by this recommendation: Housing to 2040, the National Transport Strategy and the National Plan for Scotland’s Islands. Scottish Ministers’ forthcoming Rural Delivery Plan will provide a further means by which outcomes on behalf of Gaelic communities are considered as part of the government’s wider approach to rural and island Scotland.
