Scottish Health Survey: content review outcomes report

This report summarises changes that have and will be made to the content of the Scottish Health Survey (SHeS) from 2024 onwards. Some of these changes do not apply to the 2024 survey and will be made to future years.

Social capital and loneliness

During the review, minimal support was received for the social capital questions.

We are removing the social capital questions as there is not strong evidence that this data is used and there are questions on this topic included in the SHS. We will retain the loneliness question as it is a single item question that is a useful measure of mental wellbeing.
