Scottish Local Authorities Remuneration Committee membership: FOI release

Information request and response under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002.

Information requested

On 5th October 2022, Ben MacPherson MSP - as Minister for Local Government - wrote to the Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee noting that the Scottish Government intended to reconstitute the Scottish Local Authorities Remuneration Committee, and had been looking to appoint new members.

Can I ask whether Members have indeed been appointed by Ministers, and who those Members are? Further, can you share any information relating to any meetings that the reconstituted SLARC has held, including minutes? And if so, will you share the minutes of all relevant meetings, or else publish them on the Scottish Government website?

Response

At the time of your request the Scottish Local Authorities Remuneration Committee had not been appointed. However, you will like to know that on 5 April the Committee was appointed, details are available at: https://www.gov.scot/publications/public-appointment-convenor-and-members-appointedto- the-scottish-local-authority-remuneration-committee/.

Minutes for meetings of the Committee will not be routinely published.
