This report is based on the returns of an annual survey questionnaire sent to all active authorised shellfish farming businesses in Scotland. Statistics on employment, production and value of shellfish from Scottish shellfish farms are presented.

How the data was collected
The data for this report have been collected via a questionnaire sent out to all authorised active shellfish businesses (Supplementary Questionnaire Documentation).
Quality Assurance
Reported data are verified against a series of checks. Where necessary, the data are referred back to the person completing the questionnaire for clarification. The information published, however, is the summation of the reported data. Return rates of survey forms is 100%.
