Information on the Scottish Social Housing Tender Price Index (SSHTPI) and Quarterly Report for June 2024.
Background
- the index has fallen in each of the last three quarters and in 4Q 2023 to 2024 is 13.1% below its peak in 1Q 2023 to 2024
- the 2Q 2023 to 2024 figure is now firm and is based on a sample of 22 projects and shows a fall of 3.7% compared with 1Q 2023 to 2024
- the 3Q 2023 to 2024 figure is still provisional based on 22 projects and may be subject to revision
- underlying construction costs of labour, materials, and plant, as measured by the BCIS General Building Cost Index, rose 0.9% quarter-on-quarter in 4Q 2023-2024 and by 3.4% compared with the same quarter a year earlier
- over the year to 4Q 2023-2024 underlying inflation, as measured by the Consumer Prices Index (CPI), rose by 3.6%
