Scottish Welfare Fund Statistics: update to 30 September 2023
Information on the Scottish Welfare Fund to 30 September 2023.
Official Statistics in Development for Scotland
The Scottish Welfare Fund comprises Community Care Grants, which help people to live independently, and Crisis Grants, which provide a safety net in a disaster or emergency.
This publication provides information on the Scottish Welfare Fund for the latest quarter, 1 April to 30 September 2023. It also contains information from previous financial years dating back to 1 April 2013, when the scheme began. This edition concentrates on the period from 2018-19 onwards.
Monthly management information (informal returns) from January 2022 to November 2023, broken down by local authority, is included for comparison with the Official Statistics and to provide more recent figures that show the impacts of the current policy and economic climate on the Scottish Welfare Fund.
A supplementary spreadsheet containing 45 tables and 14 charts has also been published. Electronic versions of this document and accompanying tables and charts are available at the Scottish Government SWF web page.
The statistics in this publication have been designated as official statistics in development. Official statistics in development are a subset of newly developed or innovative official statistics undergoing evaluation. They are published to involve users and stakeholders in the assessment of their suitability and quality at an early stage.
Further information on Experimental Statistics is published by the UK Statistics Authority.
