Skills Recognition Scotland (SRS) pilot: learning insights
Report undertaken to gather high level insights on the process including its strengths and key learnings for any future work.
Method
Researchers from ALSA conducted 10 online MS Teams interview calls with 11 people.
Interviewees were drawn from the project team, organisations who had been involved in the pilot steering group, and an external organisation that had been engaged with the pilot.
These interviews provided an opportunity for interviewees to reflect on the process of delivering the pilot and their experiences of it, as well as sharing their insights on key learning (see Annex B for the topic guide used).
A recurring theme from the interviews was that there was a range of different experiences and views. Interviewee's experiences of the pilot were based on what they themselves had encountered during the pilot, and the role they had had in the pilot.
It is also important to note that the interviewers were not able to reach all members of the steering group or project team. It was also not possible to reach participants and employers. Therefore, no participants or employers insights are included in this report. Understanding participant and employer experiences, including the education and employment outcomes achieved, was seen by interviewees to be a priority for any future monitoring and evaluation of skills recognition in Scotland.
This report provides one source of information to help understand the learning from the SRS pilot. The insights from it cannot be generalised to all interviewees or all those who have been involved with the pilot.
