1. The figures in these columns cannot be added to produce a total maximum since the individual establishment figures relate to different days within the year. During 2009-10, the maximum number of prisoners held within the Scottish Prison Service estate on any one day was 8,248 on 7 July 2009. The maximum number of men prisoners was 7,834 on 7 July 2009, and the maximum number of women prisoners was 464 on 21 September 2009.
