Statistics Group strategic priorities
The strategic priorities for the Scottish Government Statistics Group.
The Chief Statistician has also set out three guiding principles for the work that statisticians in Scottish Government do. This is relevant to both the day-to-day work in the production and dissemination of statistics but also our transformation efforts in relation to the strategic priorities. With the guiding principles there is a recognition that statisticians’ resource is finite, and we should be prioritising rather than doing more to get our work done. With everything we do we should have these guiding principles in mind:
-
Focus on our purpose: This is about knowing what role we play as individuals and teams in the production of evidence to support policy making which leads to better outcomes for the people of Scotland. There are many distractions out there that can take us away from our role from producing and disseminating high quality statistics.
-
Chase the value: This allows us to think about what are the things that we are doing that are truly the most important and have the biggest impact and focusing on that.
-
Be ready for the future: We live in an ever-changing world with data so we can’t be complacent. We need to ensure that our processes and services are adequately futureproofed and will need to invest time to ensure that is the case.
