1. In 2005-06 Fife College of Further & Higher Education and Glenrothes College merged to form Adam Smith College.
2. Inverness College, Lews Castle College, Moray College, North Highland College, Orkney College, Perth College, Sabhal Mor Ostaig and Shetland College were incorporated in the University of the Highlands and Islands which became an HEI during the period 2000-01.
3. In 2005-06 Falkirk College of Further & Higher Education and Clackmannan College of Further Education merged to form Forth Valley College.
4. In 2005-06 Glasgow College of Food Technology and Glasgow College of Building and Printing merged to form Glasgow Metropolitan College.
5. Bell College became an HEI during the period 2001-02 and during the period 2007-08 merged with Paisley University to become the University of the West of Scotland.
