More information on natural capital in Scotland

The Scottish Government has produced this summary to make the key findings of the latest NCAs accessible quickly. We are not publishing a longer output based on the NCAs alone because we plan to produce a broader report on a range of complementary natural capital analyses for Scotland in the first half of 2025. This will include the NCAs, NatureScot’s Natural Capital Asset Index (NCAI), the Scottish Government’s publication ‘Natural capital - importance to the Scottish economy: research’ and other relevant metrics to give a greater understanding of the benefits of natural capital to Scotland.

The NCAI, which is compiled by NatureScot, reports on the extent and condition of habitats as natural capital assets, as well as their potential to deliver ecosystem services.
