Introduction

This document provides information on the methodology and data sources used in the School Leaver Attainment and Initial Leaver Destination publications. The publications provide information on the main activities of school leavers three months after then end of the school year (the first Monday each October).

The publications cover pupils who left publicly funded mainstream schools, in the 32 local authorities and one grant aided school (Jordanhill) in Scotland.

A separate release published in June each year provides information on the activities of school leavers nine months after the end of the school year (the first Monday each April).
