Welcome accommodation
The estimated number of displaced people from Ukraine in welcome accommodation, as well as the number of welcome accommodation rooms and ship cabins occupied, are on an overall decreasing trend since January. For time series prior to 2 May 2023 please refer to previous publications. From early June, the number of occupied welcome accommodation rooms show a slight increasing trend, however, the overall decreasing trend continued as the number of occupied ship cabins on the M/S Victoria decreased until it was fully disembarked on 4 July, ahead of the end of the contract on 11 July.
As reported by welcome accommodation teams across Scotland on 10 July, there were around 1,860 welcome accommodation rooms occupied by displaced people from Ukraine in welcome accommodation in Scotland. This compares to around 1,885 welcome accommodation rooms and around 635 ship cabins on board M/S Victoria occupied as reported on 2 May 2023 (figure 1).
By 4 July around 1,975 guests had disembarked the M/S Victoria while it was operational since 26 July 2022. A timeseries of the number of guests and occupied cabins or rooms in welcome accommodation each week since 2 May 2023 can be found in the accompanying set of tables.
