Ukraine Sponsorship Scheme in Scotland: statistics - October 2023

Children in education 

Following a Scottish Government survey of local authorities, data indicates that as at 29 September 2023, 2,843 Ukrainian children were enrolled in primary and secondary schools across Scotland. Since first reported in September 2022, the number of Ukrainian children enrolled in schools (both primary and secondary combined) were on an increasing trend until January, and levelled off with some monthly fluctuations since then. The latest term collection has shown a decrease in the number of Ukrainian pupils enrolled in Scotland’s schools since it was previously reported in May 2023.  Due to the start of the new school year there is likely to be movement of pupils from primary to secondary school, since the previous collection.
