This map showing all areas in Scotland designated as sensitive to the effects of sewage discharges, in accordance with the Urban Waste Water Treatment (Scotland) Regulations. Scottish Ministers reviewed the designated sensitive areas in 2024, concluding that no changes are required.
The map identifies 5 Shellfish Water Protected Areas, 21 Bathing Waters, 1 estuary, 170 rivers and 25 lochs that are designated sensitive areas in 2024. The full list of the 222 sites, which includes their locations, is available to download on the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) website.
