Victim Surcharge Fund: annual report 2021-2022
A report on those payments made into and out of the Victim Surcharge Fund, the recipient organisations, the administration costs and balance of the fund for the period 01 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.
Annex A: Application Process
The Fund was opened for the second time to applications from organisations that provide support to victims of crime in December 2021. The deadline for applications to the Fund was 14 January 2022.
By the closing date, eight applications to the Fund had been received.
The applications were independently assessed by a panel of three Scottish Government officials against a pre-agreed matrix. A panel meeting was then held on 4 February 2022 where individual findings were discussed, and a consensus reached on which of the applications met the criteria required (as set out in the Victim Surcharge Fund Guidance).
Six applications met the criteria, were approved for funding by Scottish Ministers and organisations informed in March 2022.
The successful organisations that applied to the Fund, and the amount they applied for, and were awarded is as follows:
Recipient | Award amount |
---|---|
Angus Women's Aid | £22,000 |
Dumbarton District Women's Aid | £12,727 |
Families Affected by Murder and Suicide (FAMS) | £40,000 |
The Manda Centre | £5,000 |
The Moira Fund | £12,000 |
Victim Support Scotland | £165,000 |

These payments will be included in the 2022/23 Victim Surcharge Fund Annual Report.
