A report on those payments made into and out of the Victim Surcharge Fund, the recipient organisations, the administration costs and balance of the fund for the period 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2023.


3. Awards and Payments made from the Fund between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023

3.1 Table (ii) shows every payment and the recipients of payments made out of the Fund, between 1 April 2022 and 31 March 2023.

3.2 A total of £687,986 was paid from the VSF to organisations during 2022-23. Victim Support Scotland was awarded £440,000 from the VSF for 2023-24, which is used to provide the Scotland-wide Emergency Assistance Fund. Scottish Government agreed to pay this in two instalments: £368,000 in March 2023, and the remainder in September 2023.

3.3 Organisations who had successfully applied for funding in December 2021 (the second time the Fund was opened) received payment in April 2022. The Fund opened for a third round of applications in December 2022. Awards to successful applicants were made in March 2023. Information on the application process and amounts awarded to successful applicants is provided in Annex A.
