Annex D: Evidence of effectiveness decision tree

A flowchart showing the questions and answers considered when assessing the evidence of how effective an intervention is at preventing/reducing violence. Three key elements are assessed; the relevance of the evidence; what the evidence says about the effectiveness of the intervention; and the strength of the available evidence. Depending on the answers given, arrows lead to further questions until a classification of effectiveness is reached. There are six possible classifications of effectiveness: inconclusive; effective, promising, mixed, no effect; and negative effect/ potentially harmful. A full written description of this decision making process is on Annex C
