First Minister John Swinney has paid tribute to the Rt Hon Alex Salmond, who led the Scottish Government between 2007 and 2014.  

Mr Swinney also laid a Motion of condolence in the Scottish Parliament, while a book of condolence has been placed in the Main Hall of the Parliament, which is open to members of the public.
